After no less than 15 years in the services of Skjern Handball as player and coach, former Danish international and Olympic gold winner, Kasper Sondergaard, says goodbye to the club as he will further pursue a career as head coach at Sonderjyske.

After 15 years at the club, Kasper Sondergaard has chosen to use a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the club ahead of the end of his contract and will continue as head coach of Sonderjyske Handball for the next three seasons.

Sondergaard has left a huge mark on Skjern Handball. As a player, he helped win all Danish titles with the club, and since then, he has played an important role in the coaching staff – most recently as interim head coach.

"This summer, we will say goodbye to one of the greatest profiles and personalities in the club's history. Kasper has been a key part of the club for so long that it almost feels unnatural that he will not be here in the future. It will be sad to say goodbye, but we meet the decision with great respect. Kasper has deserved this opportunity, and we wish him all the best in the future", says Director Carsten Thygesen.

For Kasper Sondergaard, it has been an emotional decision to say goodbye. "Skjern Handball means a lot to me, and I had also been looking forward to next season with Oscar Carlén. But this opportunity was too exciting to pass up. This kind of job offer will not necessarily come again."

Sondergaard won the European Championships as well as gold at the Olympics during his international career with Denmark.
