With 13 goals to her name so far in 2026 and amid her decision to stay at the club to further her development and the excitement of playing for a European title in front of her home fans, the striker explains what is at stake in what she now calls the "final of finals" during a video conference organised by UEFA.
Congratulations on winning the first leg. How does it feel to be playing in a final with an away leg and a home leg?
Felicia Schroder: It's a very special experience. It's the first time we've played a final with two halves, so to speak. Finishing this final at home, in front of our fans and families, makes the event unique. The whole team is looking forward to it.
Is it very different from a league match, given that you're playing another Swedish club, but in the context of a European cup?
It's very special. It's almost a strange feeling to be back here with Hammarby. The atmosphere would undoubtedly be different against another European team, but it's still a historic moment because it's the first time. It's the European cup and we're obviously here to win.
Is your approach to the second leg different from the first?
Our approach remains the same, but the feeling is different. This match is the 'final of finals'. The first stage has been completed, now it's the moment of truth. We're ready for it.
What would it mean to you to win the very first Europa Cup?
It would mean everything. It's a dream to be European champions, that's our absolute goal.
The fact that two Swedish clubs are in the European final, what does that say about the level of the Damallsvenskan today?
It shows that the level is very high. A lot of players are leaving for leagues like the WSL (Tottenham, Liverpool). Seeing Hacken and Hammarby in the European final is a strong indication of the competitiveness of our league.
Is it an advantage or a disadvantage to know your opponents so well?
It's an advantage. We know them by heart, and they know us too. We'll be playing each other 5 times this year. It's going to be an intense match, with lots of duels.
Last summer, you signed a new contract despite numerous transfer rumours. Why did you feel that staying at Hacken was the best decision for you?
A lot of players come and go. For me, as a young player, the most important thing is to make the right decision and not to rush things. You're never really 'ready' before you leave; you become ready when you're faced with the situation. I chose to take my time and not to stress.
You seem to improve every year. What is it about the club or the coaching that encourages this?
It's a combination of the club, the people around me who push me, and the facilities here in Hacken. I feel I'm improving every day. That's why I've extended my contract by several years. As for the rest, only time will tell.
In the Europa Cup, you come up against a wide variety of styles of play. What have you learnt from these international encounters?
You learn a lot from playing against big teams like PSG or Chelsea in the Champions League. It's helped me physically, to be more solid, to know how to protect my ball as a striker and to play more intelligently.
You have already scored 13 goals in 2026 in all competitions. Why do you like scoring so much?
It's an incredible feeling that I can't even describe. But beyond the goal, it's the pleasure of celebrating together. My goals are the result of the work of the whole team and the actions that precede my shot.
It's often said that for a striker, once you start scoring, you don't stop. Are you feeling that flow at the moment?
Absolutely. As a striker, scoring and bringing points to the team is essential for me. When you've got that kind of momentum, you just keep going, especially with your team-mates who are also in an excellent phase when it comes to delivering assists. It really is a team effort.
What qualities have you added to your game this season?
I work a lot after training on different types of shots in different situations. Whether it's with my head, my left foot or my right foot, I try to practise everything.
Which strikers do you admire?
I've watched Didier Drogba and his goals a lot. But there are also some excellent current players like Alessia Russo, Stina Blackstenius and Bunny Shaw.
You have some experienced players alongside you. How important are they at times like these?
It's crucial. She knows how to manage everything on the pitch, how to put things right when things aren't going well and how to see the spaces. Her defensive skills are incredible; she's a real role model for me every day.
Three years ago, when you signed as a professional, you were on the bench against Hammarby in the Swedish Cup final. What have you learnt since then?
At the time, everything was new because I'd come from a small club. Since then, I've learnt a lot in terms of physical fitness, how to run intelligently and by observing the players around me.
You face Hammarby in the Swedish Cup final in a few weeks' time. What would it mean to bring these two trophies back to Hacken?
Winning the Europa Cup for the first time would be historic and would mean a lot to everyone in the team. We're one step away from that goal. We're looking forward to this match and hope to win.
