Buffalo Bills All-Pro safety Micah Hyde (34) announced his retirement on Tuesday after 12 years in the league.

Like another recent retiree Mason Crosby (40), Hyde didn't play during the 2024 season after no team signed him. However, before finally retiring, Hyde was instead brought in by the Bills as a practice squad mentor for other players this past season.

"We've always connected with this place," Hyde said after returning to the Bills two months ago. "To see the reaction that people have with us signing back here is truly amazing."

Hyde was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft and spent four years (2013-2016) with the Packers before his career took off with Buffalo in his first year with the team. However, in Buffalo, his career soared.

Hyde was voted to the AP Second Team All-Pro roster in his first season with Buffalo (2017) and then again in 2021, both seasons where he put up a career-high five interceptions.

After 12 years, 11 playing, Hyde finished his career with one Pro Bowl selection, 24 interceptions, 66 pass deflections, five forced fumbles, five sacks, 644 tackles, and 18 tackles for a loss.
