The Arizona Cardinals and All-Pro safety Budda Baker (28) have agreed on a three-year, $54 million contract extension with $30 million guaranteed.

Baker will now make an annual salary of $18 million per year, which makes this the third-largest contract for a safety in NFL history. The six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro safety will now be under contract with the Cardinals until 2027.

The eight-year veteran is having a phenomenal year for the Cardinals. He leads the league with 88 solo tackles (142 total, ranks second) and has two sacks, nine tackles for a loss, and three pass deflections on the season.

His 76.7 overall PFF grade is ranked 16th of 160 safeties along with a 71.7 coverage grade (20th) and 81.9 run defence grade (13th).

Baker has 15 solo (28 combined) tackles in just the past two weeks alone against the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks

Arizona is 7-7 and in the midst of an intense race for the NFC West crown with the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks both sitting at 8-6 and the San Francisco 49ers at 6-8 with three games left.

The Cardinals will be back home for their next two games against the Panthers and Rams before heading out to San Francisco for their final game of the season.
