Colorado head coach Deion Sanders (57) announced that the school has taken out an unprecedented insurance policy on multiple players, including Travis Hunter (21) and Shedeur Sanders (22).

Hunter and Sanders are both projected top-five picks in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft and will now be insured in case either of them endure any unfortunate injuries in the upcoming Alamo Bowl game against BYU.

"We happen to have two players that are probably gonna be the first two picks of the NFL Draft," said Sanders. "And they have received, I think, the highest number of coverage that has ever been covered in college football. ... It far exceeds anyone (who) has ever played this game of college football."

Several other players that haven't been named are also insured for the upcoming game. Further details on the insurance were not provided. The number one overall pick in the upcoming draft is expected to make around $40 million on a four-year deal.

"It was (Sanders') idea we should get disability insurance for our athletes for this game to ensure that they played and if there was some kind of injury, that they would be well taken care of," said Colorado Athletic Director Rick George. "So, we worked together on that. We're excited about it. We think it's great that all our players are playing in the game. That's what all bowl games should be like."

While a lot of college football programs are currently scrambling for players to participate in upcoming Bowl games, like how Marshall had to forfeit theirs because 29 players entered the transfer portal, Colorado has retained every single one of their players for the Alamo Bowl.

Sanders threw for 3,926 yards with 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season while Hunter had 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns this past season. Hunter also had 31 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and four interceptions as a defensive back, earning his way to a Heisman Trophy.

Colorado (#23) will take on BYU (#17) ) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday at 7:30 EST.
