Woods' production with the Texans saw career lows across the board but that doesn't mean he didn't enjoy his time in Houston.
"I had a great time here in Houston," said Woods. "(I) loved being with C.J. (Stroud), a great quarterback, loved our receiver room, our coaches. We'll see how it goes in free agency. You know how free agency is. Whatever is best for me and my family and my football career. If that's in Houston, however it goes, we'll look to that."
In 2024, Woods only put up 203 on 20 receptions (30 targets) in 15 games, all career lows. The previous year's numbers were doubled with 40 receptions for 426 yards and a touchdown.
The Texans hired former Los Angeles Rams assistant coach Nick Caley to be their new offensive coordinator - a hiring that could prove to be worthwhile for Woods' return to Houston.
Woods was part of the Rams system when he won a Super Bowl with them. But more importantly, it was a time in his career when he saw his best production on the stat sheet.
Woods had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2018 and 2019, also setting a career-high in receiving touchdowns with six in two separate seasons (2018, 2020).
"I had a great time in the LA offense with Sean and everybody who was under him," said Woods. "I know that offense is capable of being high-powered, whether it's the running back, with the tight ends, with the receivers, everybody is able to just have a role in the offense and be able to be used to their best talents."
Woods joins star receiver Stefon Diggs (31) as the team's two wide receiver free agents. But in a crowded room with Nico Collins (25), Tank Dell (25), John Metchie III (24), and Xavier Hutchinson (24), Woods may be on the outside if they're focusing on retaining Diggs.
NFL Free Agency officially starts on March 10th.
