Kansas City Chiefs released running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (25) on Monday, according to the team.

Edwards-Helaire had yet to see the field this season with backs Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, Samaje Perine and Carson Steele all ahead of him on the team's depth chart.

Ever since his rookie year in 2020, the former LSU standout's productivity has decreased as his NFL career continued.

Edwards-Helaire's career stats consist of 1,845 rushing yards on 441 attempts (4.2 avg) with 19 total touchdowns (12 rushing, seven receiving), rushing for just 223 yards and one touchdown on 70 attempts in 2023 - all career-lows.

The now former Chiefs running back was on a one-year $1.17 million deal and was going to be an unrestricted free agent before the season ended. Now, he will look to possibly become a depth piece for another Super Bowl-contending team, or possibly another squad where he will receive playing time in order to revitalise his career.
