Liam Coen (39) told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday that he will be taking the head coaching job for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Coen will now become the third Jaguars head coach in the past five years.

Coen, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator, is currently in the midst of a lot of suspicious news from the past few hours, according to NFL insider Ari Meirov.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic provided some more details on the situation.

Coen was set to receive what was supposedly a massive contract extension from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But after the Jaguars fired general manager Trent Baalke, which now seems to be a part of the deal for Coen to come to Jacksonville, the former Bucs OC is now officially the Jaguars head coach.

The Bucs were third in total scoring and fourth in total offence this past season under Coen in his first season as the team's offensive coordinator. Coen was the offensive coordinator for the 2022 Los Angeles Rams team that went on to win the Super Bowl.

Tampa Bay won the NFC South title after a 10-7 season but ultimately lost in the NFC Wild Card round to the Washington Commanders.
