Signings
Buffalo Bills signed linebacker LB Terrell Bernard to a four-year extension worth $50 million. Bernard was in the final year of his rookie deal but landed a nice contract after putting up 247 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and five interceptions in the past two seasons as a starter.
The Detroit Lions signed linebacker Derrick Barnes to a three-year extension worth $25.5 million with $16 million of it fully guaranteed. Barnes missed most of the season with a knee injury but is a foundational piece in the Lions' defence.
In other deals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed linebacker Lavonte David to a new deal ahead of free agency for one year worth $10 million ($9 million guaranteed).
Cuts
The Washington Commanders officially released defensive tackle Jonathan Allen after playing on his favourite team for eight years. The move creates $16.5 million in salary cap for the Commanders while Allen will now be free to look for a new home.
Over in Tennessee, the Titans released linebacker Harold Landry, creating $10 million in cap space. The release came coincidentally after the team met with potential first-overall pick in this year's NFL Draft - Abdul Carter (EDGE).
Trades
The Seahawks Seahawks traded quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick. Smith will reunite with his former head coach in Seattle, Pete Carroll.
