The Philadelphia Eagles will open the 2025 NFL season against the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL announced on Monday.

The Eagles and Cowboys will kick off the 2025 NFL season on Thursday, September 4th at 8.20 PM Eastern time.

The Philadelphia Eagles open the new NFL season at home following their 40-22 Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs in February. The Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles' NFC East rivals, finished the season with a 7-10 record and a third-place finish in the division.

The Cowboys fired head coach Mike McCarthy following the 2024 season after winning one playoff game in his five seasons in charge. Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones appointed offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as McCarthy's successor.

Sweep

The Super Bowl champions swept the season series against the Cowboys last season with a combined score of 75-13. Their last meeting came in week 17, and the Eagles won 41-7, thanks to two touchdowns from backup quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott missed both games against the Eagles with a lingering hamstring injury, but is set to return for the season opener with new weapon George Pickens ready to make his Cowboys debut.

A meeting between the Eagles and Cowboys has never opened the season and last featured on the opening weekend in September 2000, when the Eagles beat the Cowboys 41-14 after touchdowns from Jeff Thomason, Duce Staley, Jeremiah Trotter, Donovan McNabb, and Brian Mitchell.
