Notre Dame's Benjamin Morrison declares for NFL Draft, projected as a first-round pick

Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison (20) announced on Thursday that he has declared for the NFL Draft.

Morrison, who missed most of this past year following season-ending hip surgery in October, still remains a projected first-round pick and is ranked 20th overall on ESPN's Mel Kiper's draft board.

He posted a lengthy thank you message to his teammates, coaches, and fans on his personal Instagram. 

The corner also posted a video to his Instagram reflecting on his football career.

Morrison racked up a total of 84 tackles, 18 pass deflections, nine interceptions, and one touchdown in his three years at Notre Dame. This past season, Morrison was named a Team Captain for the Irish before going on to win multiple honours. 

He was named to both the Associated Press and USA Today Preseason All-American - Second Team as well as the ESPN and Sporting News Preseason All-American - First Team. 

In 2023, Morrison was named a Thorpe Award Semifinalist, an award given to the league's top defensive back, and won the Notre Dame Knute Rockne Student-Athlete Engagement Award. 

As a Freshman, Morrison was named to the 2022 Freshman All-American team for the following outlets: On3, College Football News, College Football News, The Athletic, 247 Sports, ESPN, and the Football Writers Association of America.
