The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing back a member from their Super Bowl team from last season in a shake-up ahead of the regular season.

Heading back to Philadelphia is offensive tackle Fred Johnson. The 28-year-old had signed a one-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars back in March after two seasons with the Eagles. Instead, he will not take a snap in a competitive game with the AFC South team.

Johnson started six of 17 games last term, having also played 17 times in 2023. This came after he joined the Eagles' practice squad in late 2022.

Despite being backup to Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, Johnson was involved in one playoff game in 2023, as well as all four last season as the Eagles went all the way to claim the Super Bowl.

Before playing with Philadelphia, Johsnon, who represented the Florida Gators at collegiate level, started off his NFL career in Pittsburgh with the Steelers. He never took to the tield in a Steeler uniform. He then moved to divisional rival Cincinnati Bengals, playing 23 times across his three years there.

After that, he had five appearances in his one year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.

The Eagles will commence their season on 4 September with the NFL's opening regular season game as they welcome the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East showdown.
