The Tampa Bay Buccaneers promoted passing game coordinator Josh Grizzard (34) to offensive coordinator on Friday following Liam Coen's departure for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach position.

Last season was Grizzard's first with the Buccaneers after spending the previous seven years with the Miami Dolphins as a quality control coach and wide receiver coach. The new OC is already eager and talking about offensive playcalling in his first press conference since receiving the promotion.

"Josh is bright and innovative and was instrumental in our game planning and play design over the last year," said head coach Todd Bowles. "After interviewing several outstanding candidates throughout this process, it ultimately became clear that our best option was here in our building. We had a lot of success offensively last season and during our conversations, Grizz provided some great ideas on how we can build on that. His familiarity with our offense, our players and the staff will ensure the continuity that is crucial for sustained success."

Under Grizzard, quarterback Baker Mayfield had a career season after throwing for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns. Tampa Bay finished the season 10-7 after winning the NFC South title but ultimately lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs to the Washington Commanders.
