The Tennessee Titans selected University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday.

Ward, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist after this past season, broke the NCAA all-time passing touchdowns record with 158 over the course of his collegiate career.

He finished last season with Miami - where he set multiple single-season school records, including passing yards (4,313), completions (305), touchdown passes (39), and completion percentage (67.2).

Ward's 18,189 passing yards are the third most in NCAA history and he has now become the fourth quarterback taken by the Titans in the draft since 2020.

The Titans took current quarterback Will Levis with the 33rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but the experiment hasn't worked out as they hoped and they're looking at Ward as their franchise quarterback.

Tennessee made some moves on their end this past offseason by hiring Mike Borgonzi as the new general manager and Brian Callahan as the team's new head coach. This comes after the Titans ranked 27th in both total offence and total scoring last season.

However, they didn't make many notable free agent moves outside of signing left tackle Dan Moore to a four-year, $82 million deal - already hinting at the fact they were taking a quarterback by getting him some protection on an offensive line that let up ranked 29th.

But they recently signed former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million prior to the draft in the hopes of giving the rookie quarterback a veteran target.

Now, Ward is the next man up in Tennessee.
