The former Champions League winner at Viborg HK and Slagelse, Bojana Popovic, who worked closely with Danish handball legend Anja Andersen for several years, will take on the role of assistant coach for Helle Thomsen and the Danish women's national team on a one-year contract.

"It is a great honor and privilege to become part of the coaching staff of the Danish national team. I am aware of the responsibility and the high expectations, but I think that the quality and experience that Denmark has gives us the right to believe that Denmark can continue to deliver good results, says Bojana Popovic, and continues:

"The Danish national team has already proven that it belongs at the top, and my task will be to be a great support for Helle and the whole team and try to lift it to an even higher level. I believe in hard work, discipline, and unity, and I am sure that together with the players and the fans we can continue to write history."

Bojana Popovic is currently the coach of ŽRK Budućnost in her home country of Montenegro, a job she will continue while also being the assistant national coach of the Danish national team. She has also previously been the national coach of Montenegro, and she is widely considered one of the world's best handball players ever. As a player, she helped win the Champions League six times.

"I have had good contact with Bojana for a few years. It will be great to have her on the team with all the commitment and temperament she brings. I have been a coach in Eastern Europe myself and know the passion that exists in the Balkans, among other places. It will be good to bring some of that energy into our Scandinavian culture. Bojana is super talented, and I am really looking forward to the collaboration", says national coach Helle Thomsen.
