The suspension will begin on Monday after Profar tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance called Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG).
He will be able to return and play during the regular season once the suspension is over, but he cannot play in the postseason.
Profar released the following statement:
However, hCG is usually used after a steroid cycle in order to restore testosterone production.
In other words, the only reason to take hCG as a ballplayer is if you took steroids in the first place.
Profar had three hits in 15 at-bats (.200 batting average) so far this season with a walk and three strikeouts.
The suspension comes after Profar signed the biggest contract of his career this offseason with the Braves at three years, $42 million.
