The Houston Astros will retire recent Hall of Fame inductee Billy Wagner's (53) number 13 before their game on August 16, 2025.

The announcement came not too long after he was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame during his last year of eligibility on the ballot.

Wagner, emotional after hearing the great news, will now be rightly honoured and enshrined in not just baseball history, but Astros history forever.

After 10 years on the ballot, Wagner finally made it. He missed election by five votes last year and finally got over the hump he deserved this year. Wagner threw a carer 2.31 ERA and racked up 422 saves (8th all-time) in 476 save opportunities.

Wagner posted 1,196 strikeouts (7th all-time among relievers) and only 300 walks in 903 innings pitched. Batters hit only .187 against Wagner in his 16-year career and never gave up more than 60 hits in a season.

The seven-time all-star, who spent nine years with the Houston Astros, four with the New York Mets, two with the Philadelphia Phillies, and one with each the Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves is now a Hall of Famer.
