Phillies star first baseman Bryce Harper (32) left Wednesday's spring training game against the Toronto Blue Jays after being hit in the right shoulder by a fastball thrown by pitcher Richard Lovelady (29).

Harper left the game going 0-2 with a strikeout, his first at-bat of spring training. Teammate Matt Kroon (28) came in as a pinch-runner for Harper while Josh Breaux (27) replaced him at first base.

The team said that no X-rays were needed. Harper was diagnosed with a bruised tricep but should be okay moving forward.

"We’re not overly concerned at all," said Phillies manager Rob Thomson (61).

“I can’t speak for the kid," said Thomson on Lovelady. "But maybe he was a little nervous. It’s Bryce Harper.”

The Phillies ended up winning the game 9-6

Philadelphia will take on the New York Yankees on Thursday for their next spring training matchup.
