His interim tenure could not have got off to a worse start, however, as Nico Schlotterbeck was given his marching orders before the half’s midway point. Despite having a numerical advantage, Bremen appeared to be out of ideas until substitute Leonardo Bittencourt produced a moment of magic just after the hour-mark, thumping a first-time shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.
With momentum on their side, Dortmund-born Marvin Ducksch swiftly restored parity for Ole Werner’s men, guiding the ball in at the near post to score his first goal against Die Schwarzgelben.
The hosts ultimately had to survive more Bremen pressure to even hold out for a draw, leaving them in 10th place and one point adrift of their visitors, who themselves are winless in four league matches in 2025.
