Bayern Munich continued their 100% start to the new Bundesliga season as Harry Kane’s 10th hat-trick for the Bavarians secured a convincing 4-1 victory over TSG Hoffenheim.

Having made their joint-best three-game start to a Bundesliga season since 2017/18, Die Kraichgauer looked full of confidence in the early stages, with Fisnik Asllani directing a close-range strike agonisingly against the post after Manuel Neuer’s mistake.

The hosts continued to probe for a breakthrough as the first half progressed, but Bernardo spurned another glorious opportunity for Christian Ilzer’s side, as his downward header bounced narrowly wide of the target.

Grateful to still be on level terms, Bayern - unbeaten across their last 10 away league matches (W7, D3) – looked to gain a foothold in the contest before HT. Lennart Karl and Nicolas Jackson saw a couple of half-chances saved by Oliver Baumann, but there was no denying Kane, with the talismanic striker converting Karl’s low corner with a sublime first-time finish.

Having won the last 13 games in which they’d scored first, the Bavarians started the second period with plenty of purpose. Vincent Kompany’s men were soon given a golden opportunity to double their advantage when Albian Hajdari handled in the box, allowing Kane to dispatch the resulting penalty into the bottom-right corner for his 12th goal of the season.

Armed with a comfortable two-goal cushion, Bayern continued to assert their authority on proceedings, with Luis Diaz going close to a quickfire third.

It was only a matter of time until the visitors extended their lead, though, and after Michael Olise was brought down in the box, Kane once again assumed the responsibility from the spot to complete his hat-trick with a powerful strike into the top corner.

Vladimir Coufal pulled one back for the hosts with a deflected free-kick, but it was little more than a consolation as Bayern eased through the closing stages and added a fourth through Serge Gnabry’s angled finish to move five points clear at the Bundesliga summit.
