Washington Capitals forward Pierre-Luc Dubois is expected to miss three to four months after undergoing successful surgery on Sunday to repair his abdominal and abductor muscles.

Head coach Spencer Carbery emphasized that the team expects Dubois back this season and that it's "just an extended period of time at this point."

Dubois played in just six games for the Caps this season, failing to record a goal or assist.

However, the 27-year-old is coming off a great first season with the Caps in which he posted 20 goals and 46 assists through all 82 games last season - a career high of 66 points.

Dubois has 165 career goals and 243 assists in 604 games with four different teams.

He's a former No. 3 overall pick of the 2016 NHL Draft who spent the first four years of his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets (2017-2020) before he went to the Winnipeg Jets for three (2020-2022) and the Los Angeles Kings for one (2023) before finding his way to the Capitals last season.

Washington is currently 7-7-1 on the year and will be traveling to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, November 11th.
