Tuesday and Wednesday featured matches for the third round of league phase action in the UEFA Champions League. Five teams remain perfect, while two stay without a point. Here is a stat from each of the 18 games.

Arsenal, Inter claim third straight clean sheet

11 - Barcelona ran rampant to open the round, scoring six times in their 6-1 defeat of Greek champions Olympiakos. A four-goal haul in 11 second-half minutes to pull clear and claim a second win in the league phase this fall. That was Barca's second win over the Piraeus-based outfit, and 11th success overall versus Greek clubs.

86 - The battle of the debutants ended as it started, with Kairat and Paphos playing to a goalless draw. The Kazakh club kept yet another clean sheet at home, their fifth this term in Europe. However, the Cypriots once again hold on for a stalemate with 10 men. In fact, Paphos played 86 minutes down a man after Joao Correia's red card just four minutes in.

6 - Villarreal's nightmare versus Premier League clubs continues. The Yellow Submarine fall to a 2-0 loss against Manchester City, Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva got the goals in the opening half as the Cityzens grabbed three more points. Since beating City's rivals Manchester United in the Europa League final in 2021, Villarreal have lost all six subsequent fixtures versus English teams.

3 - Keeping clean sheets is something Inter Milan have no problems with doing in Europe. The Nerazzurri earned a solid 4-0 success in Brussels versus Union Saint-Gilloise. Last season's finalists are yet to concede in the UCL so far this term. Meanwhile, Union have failed to score in their last three European home games, stretching back to last campaign. They lost each one.

12 - PSV have kept up their domination of Napoli, taking it to the next level in Eindhoven on Tuesday. The Dutch champions overturned the deficit with a solid second half, resulting in a 6-2 victory. That result made it three wins from three for PSV over the Partenopei, where they have scored 12 times in those head-to-heads.

23 - Newcastle followed up on their matchday 2 victory by scoring a 3-0 home win at the expense of Benfica. The Magpies got a Harvey Barnes brace in the second half to send them up to eighth in the league phase. Benfica are still without a point after three rounds. It is the first time in 23 years that Newcastle have won multiple UCL group games in the same season.

4 - Borussia Dortmund have been quite the fun watch in the Champions League so far this term. The 2023/24 finalists came away with a 4-2 result at FC Kobenhavn. Felix Nmecha scored in both halves for the Germans as they picked up another convincing result. Dortmund seem to like the number four, as they have scored that many goals in all three league phase games so far.

15 - Paris Saint-Germain did not joke around in their fixture, rolling out a 7-2 dumping on Bayer Leverkusen. Both teams were reduced to 10 men in the opening half, but that did not hinder the holders, who saw six different players find the back of the net. Leverkusen, now on a five-match winless run, have conceded 15 times during their slump.

1 - A dominant second half showing saw Arsenal break away from Atletico Madrid in their 4-0 victory. The Gunners managed their goals in 13 minutes en route to a huge result. Atleti failed to test their opponents much in the game. That was evident when seeing they had just one shot on target in the 90 minutes.

Home sides dominate Wednesday's action

5 - Athletic Club are finally on the board in this season's competition. They ended Qarabag's incredible start with a 3-1 result.  While the Azeri champions put out a valiant effort in the Basque Country, they proved to be no match for Athletic, who claimed their fourth success in the UCL proper. Qarabag have still never beaten a Spanish team, losing for the fifth time in such a match

9 - Galatasaray made it consecutive home wins thanks to their 3-1 defeat of Norway's Bodo/Glimt. Victor Osimhen managed a first-half double, which proved to be pivotal for the Turkish champions. After a pair of draws to open up their UCL debut, Bodo stretch their winless run on the road to nine matches (0-2-7).

59 - Atalanta and Slavia Praha were unable to break the other down in a scoreless clash in Bergamo. Despite a total of 38 attempts throughout the 90 minutes, no one was able to convert their opportunity in a score that does little to help either team. For Slavia, the goalless contest ends a streak of 59 European matches where goals were scored.

36 - Bayern Munich showed no mercy against Club Brugge, cruising to a 4-0 victory at home. The Bavarians were already three clear shortly after the 30-minute mark as they stay perfect after three matches. Bayern have always had a good record versus Belgian teams, having now scored 36 times across those matches.

22 - Chelsea did not disappoint in front of their fans. A Kenneth Taylor red card 15 minutes in paved the way for the Blues to record a 5-1 beating on Ajax. That was a far more convincing showing from Enzo Maresca's men as they pile the misery on their Dutch opponents. The side from London mustered 22 shots in what turned out to be a one-sided game.

20 - Liverpool's love for facing Bundesliga teams in Europe was on full display on Wednesday. The Reds managed a 5-1 success at Eintracht Frankfurt, being the only away team on the night to win. Despite going behind midway through the opening half, the Merseysiders responded with three goals in nine minutes to claim their 20th victory over German opposition.

8 - For the second round in a row, AS Monaco ended up splitting the points with an English team. This time, Tottenham were the side to claim a point at the Stade Louis II as the match ended 0-0. The hosts had more than double the shots (23 to 11), but failed to find the breakthrough. Spurs have gone unbeaten in their opening three UCL group games for the first time in eight years.

31 - Real Madrid claimed another victory thanks to a Kylian Mbappe strike 12 minutes after the break in a 1-0 success over Juventus. Xabi Alonso's men are one of five sides to maintain an unblemished record after the opening three games. Moreover, they have now kept consecutive clean sheets in Europe for the first time in 31 games.

17 - Sporting CP showed their mettle at home, recovering from an early deficit to pick up a 2-1 win against Olympique Marseille. Alisson Santos played hero for the Portuguese champions as his goal four minutes from time lifted his side to victory. Sporting's equaliser and winner came 17 minutes apart.
