TRADE ALERT: Chicago Cubs acquire Andrew Kittredge from Baltimore Orioles

The Chicago Cubs acquired relief pitcher Andrew Kittredge from the Baltimore Orioles in a trade during the early hours of Thursday.

In return, Baltimore received Cubs No. 17 prospect Wilfri De La Cruz (SS).

Kittredge has tossed a 3.45 earned run average in 31 games this season. The 35-year-old righty has struck out 32 while walking eight, also giving up 12 earned runs on 26 hits in 31.1 innings of relief this season. 

Kittredge is in the final year of his current deal with a possible club option that could keep him on the Cubs through the 2026 season. 

He'll provide some help in a Cubs bullpen that ranks 15th in ERA (3.90).

De La Cruz is a 17-year-old is slashing .262/.442/.417 with nine RBI and nine stolen bases in the Dominican Summer League (rookie ball). 

He signed with the Cubs for a $2.3 million bonus, the largest of their international signing class.
