TRADE ALERT: Detroit Tigers acquire Paul Sewald from Cleveland Guardians

The Detroit Tigers acquired relief pitcher Paul Sewald from the Cleveland Guardians in a trade deal on Thursday.

In return, the Cleveland Guardians received cash considerations.

Sewald is tossing a 4.70 earned run average in 18 games this season, giving up eight runs on 14 hits through 15.1 innings with 18 strikeouts and four walks. 

The 35-year-old is currently on a one-year deal and will become an unrestricted free agent once the season ends. 

Sewald is the second pitcher the Tigers have traded for ahead of the deadline, with the first being Rafael Montero
