It will be Finland vs Sweden in the finals of both the men's and women's Floorball events at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, after all four of Monday's semi-finals went the way of the Nordic nations.

In the men's competition, Finland had already broken the world record for a victory in an international match, thrashing hosts China 42-0 en route to winning Group B, while Sweden won Group A at a canter.

Neither side would have it quite so easy in the last four, however - Sweden were pushed all the way by the Czech Republic, eventually needing overtime to get the job done with a 5-4 win.

Filip Eriksson and Oskar Hovlund twice put the Swedes in front in the opening two periods, only for the Czechs to equalise on both occasions through Filip Zakonov and Jakub Bursik.

Sweden looked to have finally secured their passage to the final with two goals in just over two minutes from Oskar Weissbach and Sakarius Ulriksson, but the Czech side wouldn't give in, and goals from Marek Benes and Ondrej Nemecek levelled it up at 4-4.

But with 05:20 on the overtime clock, Sweden sealed their place in the gold medal game when Niklas Ramirez struck to break Czech hearts.

In the other semi-final, Finland took a while to find their goalscoring form before eventually seeing off Switzerland, 4-0.

Finland scored 74 goals in their three group matches, but they could not find a way through the Swiss defence in the opening 15-minute period.

The breakthrough finally came in the sixth minute of the second, courtesy of Eemeli Akola, before Waltteri Vesterinen added a second soon after to give the Finns some breathing space.

The game still hung in the balance with five minutes remaining and Switzerland pulled goalkeeper Nils Schalin in an attempt to set up a grandstand finish, but it backfired not once, but twice, as Eemeli Salin and Sami Johansson scored empty-netters to see Finland progress.

The final will be a repeat of the 2022 edition and will be played at 09:00 CEST on Wednesday.

Later on Wednesday, the Finland and Sweden women's teams will also battle for gold in Chengdu after winning their respective semi-finals earlier today.

The two nations have been equally as dominant as their male counterparts throughout the World Games, and they saw off the same nations in the last four.

Sweden were being held 1-1 by the Czech Republic after 15 minutes, but a goal in each of the next two periods secured a 3-1 victory.

Finland had an easier ride against Switzerland, going 3-0 up inside 30 minutes before fending off any hopes of a late comeback, eventually running out 5-1 winners.
