The 24-year-old now has signed to a four-year, $130 million extension, with a guaranteed $90 million. That is the fourth-largest guarantee for a wide receiver in the league.
Wilson also received a $13.75 million signing bonus to go along with the deal, which runs until 2028.
The former Ohio State Buckeye has had impressive number since joining the league. So far, he has played in all 51 matches for the Jets since being drafted, posting over 1,000 receiving yards in each his first three seasons. This is despite playing with seven different quarterbacks during that time.
Moreover, the former first round draft pick is one of five players in NFL history to have 80+ receptions and 1,000+ receiving yards in each of his first three seasons.
This move comes at a time where the Jets are rebuilding after a 5-12 season last year, which saw them finish third in the AFC East. It left them without postseason play for the 14th year running, where only one of those campaigns did they end up with a winning record.
Wilson will likely have to get used to anothe quarterback next year following the departure of Aaron Rodgers. Regardless, he is set to remain a Jet for the foreseeable future.
