Odense led several times by four goals against Ferencvaros but were left to settle for a 27-27 draw, when the two sides met in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.

The Danish side will rue scoring only four times in the fourth quarter of the match as their attacking efficiency plummeted to only 40 per cent, leaving the door open for the Hungarians to mount a spirited comeback.

While Helena Elver scored eight times, and Elma Halilcevic added five goals, Odense couldn't execute their game plan at end of the match, despite leading 26-23 after Elver scored her last goal with five minutes to go.

Ferencvaros relied on their enormous experience to bounce back and finished the match with a 4-1 run. The draw will now favor the Hungarian champions to go through to the Final Four, with the upcoming second leg scheduled for Saturday.

Odense are no pushovers, but will rue allowing Ferencvaros to crawl back into the tie.

Odense's chances of a maiden appearance in the Final Four are now significantly slimmer, in what would be Ole Gustav Gjekstad’s last matches on the bench of the Danish side, before committing full-time to Norway’s women’s national team.
