Flensburg Handewitt's Danish profiles Kevin Moller and Lasse Moller proved a big mouthful for GOG in the return leg of their European League quarter-final clash as the Germans booked an expected 35-29 win in Northern Germany on Tuesday evening.

The Danish visitors were dealt a 29-35 away defeat to Flensburg-Handewitt, who overall won the doubleheader in the quarter-finals by eight goals.

Two Danes from Flensburg led the charge. Kevin Moller produced a number of strong reflex saves, while Lasse Moller stood out at the other end with nine goals.

GOG's exit from the tournament came as no surprise, as the Danes lost the home leg by three goals and were left with a mountain to climb before the return leg in Flensburg.

Flensburg-Handewitt won the tournament last season, and the Northern Germans left no doubt from the start in Tuesday's return leg that their criteria for a successful season is very much tied up with defending the trophy.

In no time, the Germans built a 3-0 - and 5-1 lead, before GOG began to find their feet in the match.

The biggest problem for the Danish visitors, however, was getting the ball past a superb goalkeeper, Kevin Moller, who had an outstanding game between the German goalposts, while another Danish player, Lasse Moller, was unstoppable in the Flensburg attack.

At the break, Kevin Moller's save percentage was 43, while Flensburg-Handewitt's lead was 17-12 with Lasse Moller scoring seven goals.

In comparison, Peter Johannesson had a save percentage of 15 in the Danish goal, while Tobias Grondahl was leading goalscorer with four goals for the visitors at the break.

After the break, GOG tried to up the pace but struggled to get into their stylish stride against the experienced Germans who never allowed the Danes back into the game.
