Icelandic coach Gudmundur Gudmundsson, who led Denmark to gold medals in the Olympic handball tournament in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, has been sacked by Fredericia after joining the club in 2022.

"We are not satisfied with our expression on the court and the flow we have delivered. The extra spark and joy of playing has been missing," says director Thomas Renneberg-Larsen.

"Throughout the past few seasons, we have changed the composition of the playing squad, with younger, talented players who are on their way and can eventually become top players in their positions."

"With the changes we have made to the squad, the starting point is different from when Gudmundur joined FHK in 2022. Therefore, we have assessed that there is a need for a different coaching profile going forward", says director Thomas Renneberg-Larsen

Assistant coaches Jesper Houmark and Michael Wollesen take over responsibility for the league team for the rest of the season.

Jesper Houmark will be given overall responsibility, but in close collaboration with Michael Wollesen.
