Second leg wins away in Finland for Lulea and Brynas, plus Frolunda grinding out an aggregate victory despite a draw on the night, ensured three Swedish teams have progressed from the Quarter-finals of the 2025/26 Champions Hockey League (CHL).

Of the four ties, the closest going into tonight's second leg was taking place in Tampere, as Ilves were attempting to come back from 3-2 down against Lulea.

The home side edged the first period in terms of shots on goal, but despite that and a pair of powerplay opportunities when the visitors' Pontus Sjalin and Frederic Allard were sent to the box, they couldn't find a breakthrough.

In the second period, Ilves again led on the shot count and had two powerplays to Lulea's one, but a higher xG for the visitors suggested that the Lynx weren't creating enough quality chances to force the puck past Matteus Ward in the Lulea goal.

That lack of cutting edge came back to bite midway through the third period, when Brian O'Neill put the Swedish side a goal up, before Pontus Andreasson put the tie almost out of reach with a second goal in three-and-a-half minutes.

Ilves pulled their goaltender in a last-ditch attempt to keep the tie alive, but on a night went nothing went right for them, they lost possession, allowing Oskari Laaksonen to guide the puck into the empty net.

Ward made 29 saves in total as the impressive Lulea ran out 3-0 winners on the night and 6-2 on aggregate to reach the last four.

A 5-1 defeat in the first leg had given Liiga champions KalPa a mountain to climb at home this evening against Brynas, yet the Kuopio side chipped away at the deficit nine minutes in when Jaakko Rissanen scored a powerplay goal following a hooking call against Jakob Silfverberg.

However, a decisive second period wiped out any comeback hopes, as following a penalty miss from Teemu Hertikainen, Brynas scored twice in the final five minutes of the period through Johan Larsson and Mattias Norlinder to go 2-1 up on the night, and 7-2 on aggregate.

The Swedish side gave KalPa every chance to produce a remarkable late comeback, conceding three powerplays in the first eight minutes of the final period, but when Konsta Kapanen finally took advantage at the midpoint, it was too little too late.

KalPa could not salvage some pride with a draw on the night, as with four minutes to play, Norlinder scored his second of the evening to give the Gavle side a 3-2 second-leg win, storming to an 8-3 aggregate victory.

Frolunda then became the third Swedish side to reach the last four as they survived late pressure to take a 2-2 second-leg draw at home to ERC Ingolstadt.

In control of the tie following a 3-1 win in Germany a fortnight ago, the Gothenburg side were the happier to go in at the first break still goalless, and then to survive a powerplay following a trip by Henrik Tommernes in the final minute of the first period.

Then things got even better for the hosts in the seventh minute of the second, as Filip Cederqvist broke the deadlock. However, goals from Leon Huttl and Abbott Girduckis turned the second leg around and ensured Ingolstadt were only a goal behind in the tie going into the last 20 minutes.

A hooking call against the home side's Isac Heens with 3:35 left looked to be the perfect chance for Ingolstadt to equalise, but they were unable to take advantage, and instead, Max Lindholm scored an empty-net equaliser in the final minute to send Frolunda through, 5-3 on aggregate.
