Despite being overshadowed by the trade deadline, the National Hockey League (NHL) did give us some solid games on Friday with the Washington Capitals showing everyone why they're the top goal-scoring team in the league while the Chicago Blackhawks finally reach their 20th win.

After giving up the first two goals of the game, the Washington Capitals responded with five straight unanswered goals to win 6-2.

Aliaksei Protas (25) led the way with two goals while teammate Tom Wilson (29) has now scored in three straight games.

The Capitals are the first team in the Eastern Conference to reach 90 points on the year and are now just two back of the league's best Winnipeg Jets (92).

They are also the only team in the Eastern Conference with over 40 wins.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings, in the middle of a heated race for a Wild Card spot, have now lost their fifth in a row.

Blackhawks 4-3 Utah Hockey Club

Despite being outshot 39 to 25, the Blackhawks finally earned their 20th win of the season with an OT victory over Utah

Young sensation Connor Bedard scored the game-winner for the Blackhawks because of course he did.

Meanwhile, newly acquired goalie Spencer Knight is now 2-0 in net for the Blackhawks and has saved 77 shots on 81 saves - a stellar .950 save percentage.

Jets 6-1 Devils

The Winnipeg Jets flew right past the New Jersey Devils after scoring the first three goals of the game and the final three as well.

Jets' Kyle Connor has three goals and 10 assists in the past 10 games as the Jets win back-to-back following a three-game losing streak.

The Devils have dropped three straight of their own. And with Jack Hughes done for the season, playoff hopes aren't just dwindling, they're getting ready to fall off a cliff.

Other games going on include the following:

St. Louis Blues vs. Anaheim Ducks

Vancouver Canucks vs. Minnesota Wild

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
