A fan threw nachos onto the ice during the Washington Capitals' win over the Edmonton Oilers while the Nashville Predators scored six straight goals en route to their fourth straight win on Tuesday.

Edmonton got on the board first against the Caps with a goal by Leon Draisaitl (34). Washington forward Tom Wilson (20) retaliated just six minutes later to end the first period. Matt Roy (2) and Pierre-Luc Dubois (9) managed to extend the Caps' lead 3-1 and held on for a 3-2 win despite the late goal from Corey Perry (8).

The three goals from Washington came off of just 14 shots. But it was enough and now they have won an NHL-best five straight games and continue their dominance as their first-place spot in the Eastern Conference remains theirs.

Caps goaltender Logan Thomspon had another fantastic outing, saving 31 of 33 shots from the Oilers.

Predators 7-5 Sharks

After the San Jose Sharks got out to a 5-1 goal lead to start the second period, Nashville flipped the switch and scored six straight goals, four in the third period, to take home their fourth straight win and the Sharks' fourth straight loss.

The win streak now marks Nasvhille's longest of the season. Starting goalie Juuse Saros was pulled for the Preds after giving up four goals on eight shots before backup Justus Annunen came in to save 15 of 16 shots.

Points streaks extended

A couple of teams out of the Metropolitan Division extended their points streaks after a couple of wins. The Philadelphia Flyers secured a 2-1 overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings to extend their point streak to six.

Rasmus Ristolainen (2) scored the game-winner for Philly with just 28 seconds left on the clock to also extend the team's win streak to three games and five of their last six.

Meanwhile, the Rangers ride a 5-0 win over the Ottawa Senators thanks to goaltender Igor Shesterkin's 20 saves. The shutout marks Shesterkin's third shutout on the year and the eighth of his career.

New York has now won four of their last six games and are now tied with Philly with 50 points each.

Around the league

The Montreal Canadiens skate by in a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning thanks to three straight goals while the Carolina Hurricanes won a close one in their 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars.
