Most productive player
Two players reached an impressive 10 points this week, but Nathan MacKinnon needed just three games to tally four goals and six assists.
The Colorado star, who currently leads the NHL in points, was especially dominant over the weekend. First, he helped demolish Edmonton 9-1 with two goals and two assists, then just hours later, he secured a 5-4 win over Vancouver with another two goals and three assists!

Chicago are showing improvement both in play and results, and they’re finding stability in the net, too. American prospect Spencer Knight shone in wins over Vancouver and Calgary, even posting a shutout against the Flames - his sixth career clean sheet.
He stopped a total of 76 shots and maintained a save percentage of 97.4%. Against the Canucks, he even picked up an assist on one of the goals.
Highlight of the week
The greatest goal scorer in history, Alexander Ovechkin, hasn’t been scoring at the breakneck pace he showed at the start of last season, and so his historic 900th goal came only in his 13th game of the campaign.
The longtime Washington captain did it in style against St. Louis - a true sniper’s goal. Goalie Jordan Binnington had no chance against Ovechkin’s backhand finish.
"It’s a huge milestone, something no one in NHL history has ever reached. Being the first player to do it is truly special. It was great to celebrate it at home in front of our fans and family," Ovechkin told NHL.com.
But immediately after, a curious situation unfolded. Goalie Binnington decided to hide the historic puck in his pads amid the chaos on the ice. Of course, with cameras everywhere, that didn’t go unnoticed...
"I made the save, you could say I even assisted on the goal. I figured he wouldn’t mind if we split the puck. Naturally, I intended to give it back to him," said the 2019 Stanley Cup winner in his defence.
The Capitals ultimately won 6-1, with the Russian’s goal proving to be the game-winner. It was his 138th deciding goal in the regular season, extending yet another NHL record.

Stat of the week
One of the world’s most iconic arenas hasn’t given home fans much to cheer about this season. Not only have the New York Rangers yet to win at Madison Square Garden in the 2025/26 campaign, holding a 0-6-1 record, but in five of those seven games, they failed to score a single goal.
Most recently, they suffered a humiliating derby defeat to the New York Islanders, losing 5-0 on Saturday.
Social media highlight
This week’s highlights feature two goalies. First up is Joey Daccord from Seattle, who tried to cap off their win over Chicago (3-1) with a goal into the empty net, but missed twice in the closing moments.
The second notable moment came from Andrei Vasilevskiy of Tampa Bay. It’s rare to see a goalie get a double minor (2+2 minutes), but Reilly Smith from Vegas found out the hard way during a 6-3 loss that it’s definitely possible.

Dennis Hildeby from Toronto proved that a true goalie stays focused no matter what - even if he loses his mask. But that didn’t help the Swede, as his Leafs fell 5-3 to Boston.
