The Los Angeles Angels acquired pitchers Luis Garcia and Andrew Chafin from the Washington Nationals in a trade deal on Wednesday.

In return, the Nationals are receiving pitcher Jake Eder and first baseman Sam Brown.

Garcia is throwing a 4.10 earned run average in 38 games with batters hitting .281 against him. The 38-year-old relief pitcher was originally on the Dodgers (5.27 ERA - 28 games) before he landed on the Nationals, where he dominated, giving up just one run on five hits in 10 innings through 10 games.

Chafin is having a solid year. The 35-year-old lefty boasts a 2.70 ERA in 26 games, giving up 20 hits in 20 innings while striking out 18 and walking 12. Hitters are posting a .267 average against Chafin this year, the second-highest in his career.

Both pitchers are currently on one-year deals and will be free agents at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old Eder has tossed a 4.91 ERA in nine games for the Angels this season. Eder is only in his second year in the big leagues, helping the Nationals get a little younger in their bullpen.

As for Sam brown, the first baseman is slashing .244/.350/.358 with five home runs and 40 RBI through 92 games in Double-A ball. The 23-year-old Brown is a former 12th-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.
