Both teams are coming off big home wins in Week 1 and will now be facing each other for the first time since 2022 on September 11th. Washington faced Green Bay in the first NFL game played after the 9/11 attacks and it was on that Monday night (September 24th) - the Packers won 37-0.
Green Bay is currently a 3.5-point favourites with the over/under for the match set at 48.5.
As for injury reports, Commanders defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. is listed as questionable after being limited in practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. Green Bay has four guys listed as questionable, which includes defensive end Micah Parsons (back), cornerback Nate Hobbs (knee), starting left guard Aaron Banks (ankle), and starting right tackle Zach Tom (oblique).
Now, let's get into our experts' picks!
Eric - Packers 31-20 Commanders
The Packers are coming off a week where they held the No. 1 offence from 2024 to a measly 13 points. Green Bay looked like the best team in football last week against their division rival Detroit Lions. I just don't see how the Commanders find a remedy to that defence backed by a rowdy Lambeau crowd in primetime.
Green Bay went 2-0 last season in home primetime games and have won three of their last four over the past two seasons. It'll be quarterback Jayden Daniels' first time ever playing in Green Bay. And they're going up against a much more formidable defence than the New York Giants.
Washington undoubtedly has the capabilities to pull off a win, but I think Green Bay rides the momentum from last week in the end under the lights.
Paul - Commanders 26-22 Packers
What a matchup, first of all. Expecting some explosive football to be played on a Thursday Night Football game at Lambeau. Washington’s Week 1 performance went a bit under the radar, but they put up 422 total yards and 222 rushing yards against a stout defensive line.
I think the Commanders will just about pip the Packers, who’ll get a reality check after an impressive Week 1 divisional victory.
Show me Bill Croskey-Merritt's Commanders!
Miguel - Packers 27-23 Commanders
The Packers’ show of authority in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions may be a warning sign for the Washington Commanders. They'll be facing a much more dangerous opponent than the Giants from last week. Green Bay is loaded with young receivers who can beat the Commanders' secondary at any moment, so their entire unit needs to play their best football this week to give Jayden Daniels and their offence a chance.
Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore held the Giants' No. 1 receiver Malik Nabers to just one reception on four targets when covering him. So while Lattimore has the potential to shut down Packers receivers himself, it's a matter of whether or not the rest of the defence can hold up, especially their front seven against Josh Jacobs and the Packers' ground attack.
This one is gearing up to be an incredible matchup the more you look into it, but I think the Packers sneak by with a win in this one.
Where to watch
