Papali'i was charged with a Grade 2 careless high tackle for an incident against Bulldog Sam Hughes that saw Papali'i sent to the sin bin in the 16th minute, with the game evenly poised.
He risks a two-game ban should he challenge the charge, though with some pundits and supporters arguing that he was lucky to have not been sent off for the dangerous tackle, it appears unlikely the Raiders would be making a case against a one-week ban.
Canberra narrowly lost 14-10 in driving rain thanks to an ill-disciplined performance in which they conceded nine penalties, with two penalty goals from Bulldogs kicker Stephen Crichton ultimately proving the difference in the tense arm wrestle.
Raiders captain Joe Tapine escaped with a $1000 fine for a Grade 1 careless tackle on Harry Hayes, whilst Bulldogs half Lachlan Galvin also received a $1000 fine for dangerous contact on Hudson Young.
Papali'i suggested on commercial radio earlier this week that 2026 is likely to be his last year in the NRL, which by seasons' end could see him play more than 350 games for the Raiders.
“I'm going to go until the wheels fall off, but I do believe, in my heart, that this is going to be my last one for the Raiders, and that's just where I left it at the moment," Papalii told SEN.
“I've got some sh*t old knees, but when we're going to war with the group of boys that's here now, I just have to pinpoint … I just absolutely love playing footy.
“I love winning. I love grinding with the boys."
Canberra's next game is at home to Cronulla Sharks on Sunday afternoon.
