A memorable Round 18 of the Allsvenskan season concluded on Monday night with Goteborg running out 3-0 winners at home to hapless Degerfors, who played 85 minutes of the match with 10 men.

After a bright start to the season following promotion, Degerfors lost seven matches in a row before finally ending that run last time out with a goalless draw against Norrkoping, their first point since Henok Goitom replaced William Lundin last month.

But hopes of another point, or perhaps better, at Goteborg were dealt a serious blow after less than five minutes, as that's all the time Mamadouba Diaby needed to pick up two yellow cards, the second for clipping the ankles of Tobias Heintz.

The 10 men held out for just over half an hour, before the home side broke the deadlock - Heintz produced an excellent cross with the outside of his foot, which Max Fenger guided into the back of the net with his head.

IFK gave themselves some breathing room right on the stroke of half-time when Saidou Alioum fought hard to keep possession before the ball fell to Kolbeinn Thordarson, whose effort from 25 yards took a huge deflection off Daniel Sundgren and trickled past the goalkeeper.

If that wasn't enough to secure the points, then that was certainly the case for the Blavitt six minutes into the second half.

Sebastian Clemmensen and Thomas Santos not only won possession back for Goteborg in midfield, but launched a two-man attack which Degerfors were powerless to stop, ending with Clemmensen threading a pass through for Santos to latch onto and finish in style.

Goteborg climb a place to seventh after a third win in five. Having been overtaken by Sirius and Oster this weekend, the Bruket remain in the bottom two after the poor goal difference that put them there has only worsened.
