Bayern Munich have been crowned Bundesliga champions for the 33rd time, their 34th national title, with Bayer Leverkusen's 2-2 draw at Freiburg giving them an unassailable lead at the summit of the table.

After Xabi Alonso's side ended their streak of 11 straight titles last season, Bayern have now regained their crown in convincing fashion, winning 24 times and losing just twice so far.

Bayern hold the record for the most German national championships with 34; all but one of these (1932) have come in the Bundesliga competition, which they have now won a record 33 times.

After arriving from a Burnley side that were relegated from the Premier League last season, question marks were raised over the appointment of Vincent Kompany as head coach.

And despite falling to Inter Milan in the Champions League quarter-finals, getting their hands on the league title represents success for the club and the Belgian this season.

It is also a big moment for England captain Harry Kane, with the striker finally winning his first piece of silverware at 31 years old.

Kane has 24 goals in the Bundesliga this season and remains on course to win the Golden Boot for the second time in two campaigns, proving his worth as a master goalscorer.

Michael Olise, who joined from Crystal Palace in the summer, and Jamal Musiala also starred for the German champions, and they will be hoping to take their form and momentum into the FIFA Club World Cup in June.
