Danish international striker Conrad Harder says that his transfer from Sporting CP to RB Leipzig was just 15 seconds from falling through.

Conrad Harder managed to get his move from Sporting to RB Leipzig in place at the very end of a nail-biting Transfer Deadline Day.

The German transfer window closed at 20.00 CET instead of midnight, and Harder held his breath until shortly before the deadline.

"It was hectic and not fun at the end. It was all the way down to being 15 seconds from falling through, but a divine intervention came through for me in the end. It was wild", Conrad Harder tells Viaplay Sport News.

"I think some negotiations had to be put in place, and then some papers had to be sent in. There was a system failure, which took some extra minutes."

The Danish national team striker explains that the first time the papers were sent in at 19.51 CET, the system failed to register the transfer and at the second attempt time had reached 19.57 CET.

"When there were 15 seconds left, the office burst into cheers, and then I could breathe a sigh of relief", says Harder.

Harder, who scored 35 goals in 37 games for Nordsjælland's Under 19s in his mother country, joined Sporting in the summer of 2024.

He scored 11 goals in 47 games for the club last term, including five in seven Portuguese Cup matches, with one of those goals being scored in a final victory over Benfica.

Harder signed a five-year deal. "In Conrad, we've signed a striker who perfectly suits our profile," said Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer.

"He's tall, physically and mentally strong, aggressive, with a lot of pace and a very dangerous left foot. He's also got international experience."
