Hamburger SV captain Ludovit Reis is reportedly set to join Belgian giants Club Brugge.

The 25-year-old former Dutch youth international joined HSV in 2021 after leaving FC Barcelona without having played a game for their senior side. Reis joined Barcelona from FC Groningen on a deal worth about €3 million.

Reis quickly grew to be a vital player in the former Bundesliga dinosaur's side, playing 32 games, scoring five goals and providing two assists as HSV failed to clinch promotion in the Bundesliga play-offs again.

Reis turned into a mainstay and played 90 games in the following three seasons. Reis was given the captain's armband for the first time at the start of the 2023/24 season and wore it for the majority of last year's second half of the season as HSV returned to the Bundesliga for the first time since their relegation in 2018.

However, despite captaining HSV back to the Bundesliga, the reliable Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reported Thursday that Reis will leave the club and join Belgian giants Club Brugge. Club will pay a total of €8 million for Reis, who will pen a five-year contract in Bruges.

Ludovit Reis's contract in Hamburg expires after next season.
