After their knock-out win over AC Milan, Eredivisie side Feyenoord will return to the San Siro after drawing Inter in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

A 1-1 draw at the San Siro was enough for Feyenoord to qualify for the next stages of the Champions League after their 1-0 home win a week prior. Feyenoord came back from 1-0 down thanks to a Julian Carranza header in the 73rd minute.

Their knock-out win means Feyenoord will face Serie A champions Inter in the round of 16. It will be their first appearance in this stage of the tournament since 2000 when the Champions League used a second 'group stage' for the round of 16.

Feyenoord and Inter have met twice before. In the 2001/2002 UEFA Cup, they met in the semi-finals. Feyenoord beat Inter 3-2 over two games and eventually won the UEFA Cup in their own De Kuip stadium after beating Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in the final.

Inter reached the round of 16 for the fourth year running after finishing fourth in this year's league phase. The Nerazzuri made the final during the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League season but got knocked out in the round of 16 in 2022 and 2024.

The San Siro is a special place for Feyenoord fans - back in 1970, Feyenoord won their only Europa Cup I/Champions League in club history by beating Celtic 2-1 after extra time at the iconic Milan stadium.
