Despite being ranked highly enough to bypass the First Qualifying Round, both Hammarby and AIK were unseeded for the UECL draw.
It was Allsvenskan runners-up Hammarby who arguably were handed the the tougher tie - Charleroi only finished 10th in the Belgian Pro League before a strong end to the campaign saw them win Belgium's European play-off.
This will be their first European campaign since 2020, when they lost in the Playoff Round in the UEFA Europa League (UEL).
Hammarby are back in Europe after a one-year absence - in 2023 they were beaten by Twente at this stage of the UECL, and the Bajen have not reached a European competition proper since they played in the First Round of the UEFA Cup in 2007/08.
This will be Hammarby's first competitive meeting with Belgian opposition. The Swedish club will host the first leg on 24th July, before heading to Belgium for the return leg on 31st July.
AIK, meanwhile, will face opponents from either Estonia or Gibraltar for the first time, as they were drawn to face the winner of the First Qualifying Round tie between Paide Linnameeskond - third in this year's Estonian top flight - and FCB Magpies - the 2024/25 Rock Cup winners.
The Gibraltarian amateurs were defeated by Copenhagen 8-1 in the Second Qualifying Round a year ago after shocking Derry City in the opening round. Paide were beaten by Sweden's Hacken in the Third Qualifying Round last year.
AIK are one of Sweden's most experienced club's in terms of European campaigns, though this will be their first for three years. The 2012/13 UEL was the last time they reached any competition proper.
The first leg will be played on 24th July and the second leg on 31st July.
Yesterday, Malmo and Hacken discovered their respective opponents in the First Qualifying Round draws for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) and UEL.
Should Malmo defeat Iberia 1999 of Georgia, they will play either Levadia of Estonia, or RFS of Latvia in the UCL Second Qualifying Round.
Hacken's reward for getting past Spartak Trvava of Slovakia will be a meeting with Belgian giants Anderlecht.
