In a week of rather shocking results, it is time to, yet again, see which eleven players stole the show in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Telstar shocked the Eredivisie with a stunning first top-tier win since 1978, beating reigning champions PSV 2-0 in Eindhoven. Elsewhere, fellow promoted outfit FC Volendam grabbed a point against record champions Ajax, and Fortuna Sittard handed a rampant NEC team their first defeat of the season.

Let's take a look at who stole this weekend's headlines according to Flashscore's ratings system.

GK: Stijn van Gassel (Excelsior) - 8.7

It was three long weeks for Excelsior, but the promoted side from Rotterdam finally won an Eredivisie match - FC Twente were beaten 1-0 on Saturday evening, and goalkeeper Stijn van Gassel largely made it happen.

FC Twente outperformed Excelsior significantly by xG (2.29 against 0.47), but were unable to find a way past Van Gassel. The former NEC stopper notched eight saves and prevented an accumulated xG of 1.63. He also recorded two clearances. Not bad.

DF: Marco Rente (FC Groningen) (9.0)

The reliable Marco Rente wasted little time shutting down Heracles Almelo in FC Groningen's 'green hell'. The German right-back assisted Brynjolfur Willumsson's 1-0 and Younes Taha's 2-0, both inside the first thirty minutes of Friday's Eredivisie clash.

These were just two of five chances Rente created, too.

Defensively, Rente was stout, too. He won 10 of 14 duels, cleared the ball seven times, won a tackle, and notched two interceptions. With performances like these, you can understand why FC Groningen are this good at home.

DF: Ko Itakura (Ajax) - 9.2 (PotW)

It was a disappointing afternoon for Ajax, who dropped points for the second time in four games and failed to convince against a promoted side.

Ko Itakura, who joined the Amsterdam giants from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer, was a rare highlight of Ajax's Saturday afternoon.

Besides scoring the all-important equaliser in the second half, Itakura won six of seven duels, cleared the ball eight times, completed 93% of his passes (51/55), and even led Ajax in shots (3) behind only Steven Berghuis (4).

It was only his second game for Ajax, but Itakura has looked the real deal. His Player of the Week award proves it.

DF: Danny Bakker (Telstar) - 8.3

The first of two Telstar stars to feature in our newest Team of the Week, Danny Bakker was a rock in the team from Velsen-Zuid as they won their first top-flight game since 1978.

Away at champions PSV, Bakker provided the assist to Tyrone Owusu's opening goal and completely shut down the right side of PSV's attack, which showed little danger with Dennis Man and Esmir Bajraktarevic. Bakker dominated his side of the pitch with six won duels, eight clearances, one won tackle and just one foul committed.

DF: Jordan Bos (Feyenoord) - 8.4

Famed for his offensive qualities at Sint-Truiden, Australian full-back Jordan Bos opened his Feyenoord account in style away at Sparta Rotterdam with a stunning strike from distance.

At the back, Bos shone just as brightly with seven won ground duels out of nine, three won tackles, and four clearances. The Aussie completed 41 of his 45 passes, recorded 75 touches, and completed three dribbles in Feyenoord's 4-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam. A top performance on both sides of the ball.

MID: Quinten Timber (Feyenoord) - 8.5

Timber was stripped of his captaincy by Robin van Persie and saw a move to Bayer Leverkusen fall through this week, but showed that the Premier League icon and former Bundesliga champions might've been wrong all along.

Quinten Timber put the exclamation point on Feyenoord's win by netting the 4-0 in injury time, but was fantastic all game long with four successful dribbles, six won ground duels, four created chances, and an interception. A true captain's performance, some might say.

MID: Melle Meulensteen (Go Ahead Eagles) - 8.5

Go Ahead Eagles newcomer Melle Meulensteen opened the scoring in the first minute against sc Heerenveen and tidily held down his part of the Eagles' midfield in the 45 minutes he played.

Meulensteen was accurate on the ball with an 87% pass completion rate, completed his only dribble, and won two duels against the Frisians.

MID: Younes Taha (FC Groningen) - 8.8

As Groningen's creative force, FC Twente loanee Younes Taha was excellent once again as he and his men beat Heracles 4-0.

Taha scored a goal and provided the assist to Willumsson's 3-0, created two chances, accumulated an xA of 0.58, led the team with two successful tackles, and shot on target twice in the Pride of the North's big win.

FW: Patrick Brouwer (Telstar) - 8.3

Just four months ago, Patrick Brouwer won the amateur championship with Quick Boys. Now, he's an Eredivisie star who earned Telstar a famous first Eredivisie win since 1978.

Brouwer was a constant threat to PSV, who were shocked by Telstar in their 2-0 defeat. Brouwer scored the 2-0 from a clever corner with one of his three shots on target. The winger accounted for five of Telstar's 16 touches in PSV's box, created one chance, and won two tackles.

FW: Ayase Ueda (Feyenoord) - 8.5

Long was Ueda's potential as Feyenoord's primary striker doubted, but the Japanese ace stood up and led his team to a big win on Sunday.

Ueda's brace firmly put Feyenoord in the driver's seat during their away game at Sparta Rotterdam. The Japanese international was a traditional fox in the box, as he scored both goals by cleverly turning away from his defender, thus creating an open chance for himself.

Ueda also won six of his eight total duels, just as a little extra.

FW: Mohamed Ihattaren (Fortuna Sittard) - 8.3

Mohamed Ihattaren came to Fortuna Sittard to get back to his best. Against NEC Nijmegen, who had dominantly won all three of their Eredivisie games, the Moroccan forward showed just what he's capable of.

The winger acted as a focal point in Fortuna's attack, often serving as the team's striker and target man, allowing Ihattaren to create chances around him and put himself in promising situations.

It paid off with two goals - one of which was an excellent penalty - and one created chance from the Moroccan, who has set himself the goal of making next year's World Cup squad.
