Eredivisie champions PSV have reportedly rejected a first offer from Premier League outfit Brentford for midfielder Joey Veerman.

According to Eindhovens Dagblad, Brentford submitted a bid of €27 million for Veerman, a fee that could rise to €30 million via bonuses. PSV deem Veerman to be too crucial for them and do not want to let the midfielder go.

Brentford are currently deciding whether to improve their offer for Veerman, who could join fellow Dutchman Antoni Milambo in Brentford's midfield after his move from Feyenoord.

PSV saw star midfielder Malik Tillman leave the club for German giants Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer and signed Bayern Munich talent Paul Wanner last week, but will be apprehensive in letting Veerman go with just three days of the transfer window left.

The 26-year-old Veerman has expressed his desire to leave PSV and go abroad for over a year. In the summer of 2024, PSV reportedly put a price tag of €50 million on Veerman, who did not get a chance to move as a result of this.

The Volendam native joined PSV in 2022 from sc Heerenveen, who received €6 million for the midfield maestro. In 158 games for the reigning Eredivisie champions, Veerman recorded 49 assists and 24 goals across all competitions.
