After announcing to the BBC that she had played the whole of EURO 2025 with a fractured tibia, Lucy Bronze spoke to the media about the injury which she has been nursing "for two months".
"I discovered my tibia fracture after the match against Portugal (in the Nations League on 30 May), but I was already in a lot of pain at the end of the season," she said.
"I discovered it, all the England players knew it, Sarina (Wiegman) knew it too, but I'd do anything to play for England, I've always said that.
"I couldn't stand taking a huge amount of medication all the time, so I didn't train all the time, but I just played the games and fought for my team. It was worth it."
The oldest member of the England team added: "I played the whole tournament with a fractured tibia and I injured my knee today. That's why the girls showed me so much affection after the Sweden match.
"It's very painful, but I'm going to celebrate."
