Ajax have reportedly prioritised the transfer of Go Ahead Eagles winger Oliver Edvardsen (25) after left winger Mika Godts (19) suffered another hamstring injury.

News of winger-needy Ajax pursuing the Norwegian forward broke Wednesday as Go Ahead Eagles and the Amsterdam side advanced into the negotiations' later stages.

De Telegraaf’s Mike Verweij reported Thursday – during Ajax’s Europa League game against Galatasaray (2-1) – that Ajax decided to put the transfer in a higher gear after Belgian winger Mika Godts had to leave the game after just 13 minutes with a hamstring injury.

Ajax, Go Ahead Eagles, and Oliver Edvardsen have all agreed on major terms, according to Verweij. Go Ahead Eagles will reportedly receive a transfer fee of €3 million for the Norwegian starlet. Ajax aim to have Edvardsen in their squad before this Sunday's game against Feyenoord.

Ajax are also working on the return of loaned out winger Carlos Forbs, according to Voetbal International's Tim van Duijn. Wolverhampton Wanderers, Forbs' current team, wish to get at least some of the €3 million loan fee back from Ajax. The Amsterdam side, however, reportedly do no want to pay for the return of Forbs.

The Dutch record champions have been searching for new forwards since last summer when moves for Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana and Burnley's Mike Tresor fell through. Ajax came close to landing Spanish winger Raul Moro from Real Valladolid before the youngster injured his shoulder.

Klassieker

With Godts - the only left winger in the Ajax squad - suffering an injury, Ajax have limited options up front with the 'Klassieker' derby against Feyenoord coming up this Sunday.

It’s the second hamstring injury for Godts in a couple months after the Belgian youngster partially tore his hamstring in November.
