Valencia's La Liga match against Real Oviedo on Monday has been postponed because of a red alert for rain, the Spanish football federation (RFEF) announced under five hours before kick-off.

On Sunday, Spain's meteorological agency put the eastern Valencia region under red alert for heavy rains.

The match at Valencia's Mestalla stadium was scheduled for a 21:00 CET start on Monday, but has been pushed back by a day.

"The game will be played on Tuesday, September 30, at 20:00 (CET, 1900 BST), as long as weather conditions allow," said the RFEF in a statement.

In October 2024, catastrophic flooding in the Valencia region led to 235 deaths and several matches being postponed.

Schools and colleges stayed shut on Monday in the city of Valencia, while other public spaces were closed.
