FC Midtjylland and FC Nordsjaelland on Thursday night booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Danish Cup at the expense of Silkeborg and Brondby.

Three substitutions proved vital when FC Midtjylland on Thursday night continued their goalscoring spree to book a comfortable 4-0 win against Silkeborg and confirm their place in the quarter-finals to be played in December.

When Mikel Gogorza, Franculino Dju, and Victor Bak were given a chance to shine after 63 minutes, the home side finally settled into their stylish stride and began showing the level of football that has seen them score no less than 15 goals in their last 15 fixtures.

During seven effective minutes, FC Midtjylland scored three times to put the game effectively beyond doubt as Silkeborg were left to rue personal mistakes, which effectively crushed their ambitions of winning another Danish Cup trophy.

Denil Castillo, Victor Bak, Franculino and and Mads Freundlich got on the scoreboard for the home side to give them another boost of morale before they face league leaders AGF on Monday night in a crucial clash in the Danish Superliga.

Two goals in extra time from Levy Nene and Justin Janssen in extra time was enough to give FC Nordsjaelland a hard-fought 4-2 win against Brondby and a ticket to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Spectators in Farum were treated to an entertaining first half where both sides had chances to take the lead before Nicolai Vallys brought the Brondby-fans to their feet shortly before the interval when he ran on to a delivery from Oliver Villadsen and directed it into the net.

Nicklas Rojkjaer then restored parity ten minutes into the second half when he curled a direct free kick on the edge of the box past Patrick Pentz. The home side then pushed Brondby back, looking for the winning goal, but instead Noah Nartey restored the lead for Steve Cooper's side seven minutes from the end with a well-struck long-range drive.

But four minutes later, Prince Amoako Junior put Villum Berthelsen clean through, and the youngster made no mistake to force extra-time.
