Gilberto Mora is emerging as one of the standout talents of his generation – and Real Madrid are considered to be well placed to secure his signature.

At just 16, the forward is already making headlines with Club Tijuana in Liga MX and is now catching the eye on the international stage with Mexico at the Under-20 World Cup.

His brace in a 2-2 draw with Spain this week underlined his growing reputation and ensured scouts from across Europe remain firmly on alert.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were among the first clubs to register serious interest, and they continue to monitor his progress closely.

In the United States, David Beckham’s Inter Miami are also positioning themselves as contenders, with the lure of Lionel Messi viewed as a potential trump card if a move north of the border is pursued as a stepping stone in his career.

Mora is already proving decisive at senior level. For Tijuana he has netted three times in seven starts this season, offering a glimpse of the maturity and end product that makes him such an exciting prospect.

Sources have suggested that Madrid, quietly behind the scenes, are tracking his development with particular intent - and believe he could be ready for a switch within the next 12 months.

The teenager, who turns 17 this month, is worth keeping a close eye on.

He is viewed inside the Bernabeu’s corridors of power as a player capable of following in the footsteps of their recent youth acquisitions - with the ability to impact the first team sooner than usually expected.

He will have big decisions to make soon in his career - but Madrid appear determined to ensure they are the ones to shape it.
