The hosts dominated the early exchanges and should’ve taken the lead when George Ilenikhena found himself in on goal. He appeared to do everything right as he took a touch before lifting the ball over the advancing Guillaume Restes, but the ball bounced into the post and cannoned away from Takumi Minamino, who had been ready to tap in the rebound.
Ilenikhena continued to threaten as the half wore on, and he went close again with a fiercely struck effort from the edge of the area, but Restes showed sharp reflexes to parry the ball to safety.
A Monaco opener felt increasingly inevitable as the half continued, but Ilenikhena’s lack of luck in front of goal continued as he collected a loose ball in the area but the woodwork came to the rescue again with Restes beaten.

The striker had time for one more chance before half, and again he came close but his side-footed finish trickled just past the post. Despite experiencing yet more frustration, the home side continued to dominate after the break.
And they finally got the opener five minutes after the restart, when Wilfried Singo headed home from point-blank range after a pinpoint delivery from Lamine Camara.
The visitors struggled to create anything in response as the game descended into a series of fouls and stoppages, and Monaco secured their victory with 10 minutes to go, when Breel Embolo kept his cool to hold off a defender before looping a header over Restes to make it 2-0.
Monaco's win lifts them back into second place and only four points behind leaders PSG, while Toulouse remain in tenth and miss out on the chance to rise into the top six.
